About Kemi Nelson

Kemi Nelson is a VP of Data Strategy and Products for Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, leading teams of Product Owners responsible for the P&C Insurer’s Data Assets, Platforms, and Applications. An entrepreneur since teenagerhood, she is the founder of ChampRISER International LLC. The purpose of ChampRISER is to enable generations of champions through access to elite opportunities. By day, Kemi is a banking and insurance data executive. By night, she is a doctoral candidate studying Adaptive Leadership in Strategy Translation, focusing on quantitative disciplines – technology, advanced analytics, and data sciences.

Kemi has extensive experience as an opinion leader and domain expert in financial services, including insurance, banking, equipment finance, and retail finance. She has worked with leading organizations for more than two decades, including Capital One Financial Corporation, UnitedHealth Group, General Electric (GE) Capital, and USAA, earning the Excellence “STAPLE” and other pristine awards both individually and for her teams. Kemi is a methodical professional who uses connectedness and a futuristic perspective to problem-solve and achieve desirable results. She is highly regarded among her peers for her systematic approach, innovative data & product strategies, and ability to drive growth outcomes using data and analytics.

Kemi values higher education and believes a robust academic career takes more than just the innate top IQ she doubtlessly received at birth. She has an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, Arlington, and a BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering with First Class Honors from the University of Ibadan, making history as the first female Electrical Engineer to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University. Now, she serves as a next-generation empowerment advocate, encouraging others to achieve their maximum potential and most outstanding career goals. She leverages her insightful intuition, iron will, and empathetic nurturing to help young minds skillfully navigate the challenges of our world with strength, leadership, and eagle-eyed focus on purpose and excellence.

Outside of her incredibly expansive work influence, Kemi is a dedicated mother who enjoys spending quality time with her family and donating her gifts, talents, and time to provide for her community. She’s been a board member to the Executive Financial Advisor to local schools, co-chaired Global Finance for the GE African American Forum, and led the GE Women’s Network Commercial Pod in Minnesota.
